To support the UK launch of the live-action Beauty and the Beast, Disney needed content that celebrated British creativity within a global franchise: something culturally relevant that could live digitally and connect with a UK audience.
I pitched a series of concepts and this idea was chosen: a meet the maker story featuring costume designer Jacqueline Durran sketching Belle's iconic yellow ball gown while sharing her design process. The illustrations came to life, connecting the live-action film directly to the original animation.
The concept was further developed in-house at FEREF, with illustration by Vida Vega.
